Banking & Research technology supports the business goals of a number of businesses within the investment bank. Our teams are responsible for technology delivery, having direct application development responsibility for key business systems and overall responsibility for all client facing systems within the investment bank. The team consists of people based in London, Glasgow, Houston, New York, Singapore, India and Buenos Aires .
The group is divided into small, highly motivated, agile teams.  Software deliveries are typically frequent and the team members are expected to be multi-disciplined and flexible in their approach, working in all areas of the solution space.
We are searching for senior hands-on development team lead who will manage the local development team that work on the next generation of the J.P. Morgan Execute platform, which is an integrated platform where capital markets clients and internal desks access our award-winning research, powerful analytics and structuring tools, multi-product trade execution and extensive post-trade services.  The platform delivers a sleek, intuitive experience across the full trade lifecycle, making it easier and faster for clients to conduct business with the Investment Bank. Candidates do not necessarily need banking experience but must be highly motivated with a track record of success in a financial environment.  The ideal candidates will have a thorough understanding of web technologies used to build web applications using HTML5/JavaScript, any Java experience would also be beneficial.
In this role, the candidate would be a team lead supervising the local development team that consists of smaller agile teams to build new and support existing functionality to the banks various trading systems, which are part of the Execute platform.  In particular the system includes pricing and trading.  The system must efficiently handle real-time data and be carefully tuned for performance.  Candidates would be responsible for managing the local team and ensuring the synergy with global team and contribute towards the build out of an HTML5 stack/ecosystem and applying it as part of delivering new projects for various asset classes.
The candidate is expected to have great communication skills and strong leadership with the proven track of record of building the team, retaining and motivating the team members and leading the team to build an application from the scratch. Experience is expected in analysis/design, application and SDK development, optimization and performance tuning – plus working with business analysts, user experience, testers and the (financial) business.  The working environment is competitive and demanding but one where creativity and problem solving skills are rewarded. 
The candidate will work very closely with the global platform architect and senior development and project leads to ensure the synergy with the rest of the development teams.
Educational Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a mathematics or science-based subject from a top school, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degrees are preferred, but not required.

      • SASS/LESS/Stylus
      • Data visualisation/charting libraries such as D3
      • Grid libraries such as Gridster
      • Templating and data binding
      • Mocha, Chai, Jasmine, Karma
      • Migrating web solutions to the Desktop
      • Cucumber/Gherkin
      • Automation tools
      • JavaScript accessibility and regulations
      • Splunk
  • Experience of working in a TDD environment.
  • Git, Maven
  • Java
    • Spring
    • Messaging / JMS
In addition, any of the following experience is considered highly desirable:
  • Financial experience or familiarity with financial products; such as Equities, Futures, FX, Credit, Commodities etc.
  • Agile / Scrum
  • Management and/or any other Leadership including mentoring
  • Accustomed to working with UX, QA, Business elements
  • Experience of working in a BDD environment
