Job Description

The Web as a Service team is part of the Integrated Compute Services (ICS) tower in the Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) organization.
Core responsibilities for the group are to ensure our supported web environments are secure. As such the team  has a high degree of interaction with other risk and Cyber teams  to undertake analysis of issues identified by them  or others and determining remediation/mitigation steps required to address. The  team are then responsible for taking these remediation steps  and working closely with other operational teams to  implement into the existing estate. Additionally they partner with provisioning teams to update build processes to avoid issues in new builds

The group is structured as a globally distributed team providing 24x5 follow the sun support.
This role is for a senior web developer/engineer to work as part of the web as a service (webaas)  support team with a particular focus on web security.  The individual will work closely with a number of different disciplines to determine  mitigation/remediation  steps  for security issues identified.  Consequently in depth web skills  with a security focus are a key requirement.  Once remediation has been identified the team are then responsible for driving the remediation across the environment. This naturally then involves the ability to track and provide management reporting  on progress
Additionally a significant portion of the role is spent on service improvement and automation initiatives along with other GTI initiatives to improve efficiency and stability of the operating environment
Analyse web vulnerabilities identified by various  sources and determine  the remediation required to address them. These could be from
• External port scan results
• Internal analysis
• Application code scans
• Automate remediation processes as much as possible to allow timely rollout  across a large estate. This would look to leverage as much as possible existing configuration management and monitoring tools.
• Determine scope of exposure and  drive schedule for remediation
• Technical  support for operational and development issues during security remediation
• Provide management reporting and tracking for remediation efforts
• Develop scripts to remediate issues/vulnerabilities in a standard fashion.
• Co-ordinate with business partners and other teams  to plan and implement remediation with aggressive timelines.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Detailed understanding of web technologies and how they function in secure environments

• Good verbal and written communications skills.

• Strong influencing skills as majority of effort will require working closely with other teams.

• Used to working in a customer facing role and as part of a geographically distributed team.

• Strong analytical ability and presentation skills.  

• Self-motivated and able to  deliver  in  high pressure situations

• Must be able to work with and leverage skills from other teams in the wider organization

• Unix/Windows scripting for automation of operational  and security related tasks

• Team player with excellent problem solving skills.

• Working knowledge of enterprise systems/design architectures:

• Application Optimization

• Local/Global Traffic Management

• High-availability strategies

• Experience in Windows, Linux, UNIX and/or AIX operating environments

• Must be familiar with structured project life cycle disciplines
