An entry level opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Guideline Management Control department within JPM Asset Management. The team’s purpose is to safeguard the fund management process by controlling and effectively mitigating portfolio risk. The successful candidate will join the guideline management team working on many guideline compliance applications in the interpretation, analysis and inputting of guideline restrictions into our compliance systems. The role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a global team. The role provides a huge scope for interactions with key stakeholders across the whole investment business.

The successful candidate will perform the following functions: -

• Manage all aspects of guideline management, from sign-off of new mandates, interpretation, coding, quality control and through to review breach information
• Interpretation of investment restrictions for Funds (Regulatory, Prospectus and Internal restrictions) and segregated mandates, covering Equity and Multi-Asset Accounts.
• Negotiate guidelines with investment desks and CPMs to help reduce manual guideline numbers
• Ensure any agreed upon manual guidelines are documented fully via the Risk Acceptance process.
• Oversight and coding of investment guidelines into internal proprietary Compliance system (PTC Tripwires – Equity) and external vendor application (thinkFolio - multi-asset solutions) based portfolios
• Foster strong working relationships with the front office, whilst maintaining an independent view
• Ensure adherence to all Policies and Procedures affecting Guideline Management
• Partner with Information Technology and the Business in order to ensure the systems are enhanced to cover ongoing Client and Regulatory requirements
• Help implement guideline management control system enhancements and the integration of new systems
• Work closely with other guideline management teams throughout the US and Asia in order to establish the best working practises within the industry for guideline management
• Attend external user group forums to discuss the impact of regulatory changes
• Review guideline restriction coding as part of the contract analysis process
• Create regular MIS and metrics
• Adhoc requests from the business
• Updating department procedures

Essential Skills

• Working knowledge of compliance applications used within the industry for the coding of investment guidelines.
• Good Product knowledge covering all the major asset classes
• Ability to deal with people at all levels within the organisation
• Able to multi-task and constantly prioritise workflow
• Strong decision making skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Working knowledge of the regulatory framework for European funds (UCITS)
• Control orientated
• Strong all round PC skills (Microsoft applications)
• Excellent team working and communication skills
• Good organisational skills
• Results focus

Preferential Experience

Experience in a similar guideline management control function
Experience and understanding of the Portfolio Management process, for exampling work as a PM’s assistant.

Preferable Qualifications

IMC and/or CFA
