Senior Java Developer - Tech Lead

About the team
Collateral Central (aka Global Collateral Engine, GCE) is a collection of collateral management services serving the needs of both our external clients and numerous internal lines of business.

The application has recently been selected as the strategic collateral management system for the Corporate & Investment Bank and various initiatives have recently been kicked-off to enhance and scale the application to meet the business vision.

The key technologies include Java, RedHat BRMS & Oracle plus more than 20 open source tools, including Spring, Hibernate, Maven and Jenkins.

About the role
This role is part of a truly global team working on a large multi-year program and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the technical design & implementation of all stories delivered by the European development team.

Qualification/Skills
 
 
 
 
 
 Essential
  • 2+ years line management & team leading experience.
  • 10+ years hands-on experience Java.
  • 4+ experience implementing enterprise applications using J2EE technologies and clustered apps.
  • Very strong technical design skills covering high level design through to class-level implementation.
  • Strong communications and documentation skills & ability to build strong relations with developers and stakeholders.
  • Competent SQL developer.
  • Good understanding of standard Java development environments, unit test frameworks and ability to write solid system integration test cases
  • College degree (computer science preferred).
 
Advantageous
 
  • Solid experience in Spring and Maven.
  • Experience of Agile development methodology
  • Experience of Test Driven Development
  • Exposure to Terracotta, Drools, JBehave
  • Experience in Linux and shell scripting
  • Experience in Subversion
  • Experience with the Financial Services industry experience is helpful, particularly in Securities Clearance or Collateral Management

  • Comfortable with agile development practices such as pair programming
