Network Operations - Capacity Performance Management Analyst

The GNS Network Capacity Performance Management Analyst must have expertise in Capacity Management, Packet and Data Flows.  The position requires ability to perform complex research and analysis to discover capacity related problems that impede upon Data, Voice and Video services.  Additionally, he/she will work and think proactively and predictively to discover underutilized links and potential capacity breaches of paths.  The Network Capacity Performance Management Analyst will collaborate with the Engineering teams and Management in proposing viable solutions. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Performing capacity analysis of all network resources including circuits, network equipment, layer-four ports, applications, and by QoS
  • Working with Tier-3 Operations and Network Engineering on data forecasts and bandwidth upgrades
  • Conducting analysis identifying trends and patterns that allow optimal data flow
  • Identifying cost saves of unused and/or low-volume paths
  • Performing various tasks related to traffic measuring and reporting on said links
  • Supporting Network Operations, Engineering and other groups, as needed
  • 1-2+ years experience in a network capacity management or Telecom business analysis role
  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably CIS or EE, and/or experience 
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel
  • Basic understanding of Data Networking and Telecommunications business and concepts
  • Basic understanding of SQL and databases (plus)
  • Detail oriented, organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude and focus on business issues
  • CCNP (plus, but not required)
  • Practical packet analysis and network flows
  • Experience with NetQOS, SevOne, and Endace (plus)
