QA Test Lead

Job Description

  • Review and understand the business requirements and design specifications
  • Interact extensively with various on/off-site team members from their own teams, including members from other teams such as Function & Product, to understand application functionality and scope
  • Manage the quality outcome of application hence ensure the deliverables meet the business requirements with no serious defects
  • Develop overall test automation strategy and test automation estimates for the program portfolio and plan the effort and strategy required for each application/project based on the development approach and timeline
  • Responsible for creating scripts to compare and validate data results from testing and identifying scenarios for automation.
  • Responsible for converting manual test scripts to automated test scripts
  • Responsible for set-up and maintenance of pre-production execution environments on physical and virtual (VMware) desktops and development of batch scripts using VB Script to facilitate the setup of test environments in which to execute automated test scripts and reporting of test execution metrics; verification/validation and tracking of defects in various release/iterations analysis and validation of automated regression test script results
  • Responsible for setting up data, tools, and databases to support integrated test environments and writing SQL queries wherever required for database testing.
  • Work with the development team to understand how changes in the software product affect maintenance of test scripts and the QA automated testing environments and also to ensure that issues/defects are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and maintain any of smoke, functional, and regression tests to ensure code is functioning as designed
  • Troubleshoot defects and manage defect tracking and resolution processes so that a consistent, documented process is used and followed
  • Maintain well organized records of test results and historical analysis of test results
  • Become and remain proficient in all programs necessary to perform the everyday duties of this position
  • Exposure to software release/build process/SDLC required. Experience testing web applications.
  • Suggest test process improvements based on incident trends. Devise options for achieving targets when progress is not as intended
  • Monitor and control tests being performed on all projects under the responsible program portfolio; producing test reports of progress against time and quality, defects severity, distribution and priority rating, impact assessments, trends over the project etc
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of IT experience in the finance service sector, with:
  • Good knowledge in BPT framework, features and advantages
  • Good experience in creating Automation Frameworks.
  • Hands on experience in developing:
    •   complex VBScript, VB, or VB.Net tools and utilities.
    •   maintaining and analyzing automated test scripts
  • Good understanding of:
    •   object oriented design & concepts
    •   the software/product development life cycle
  • Great oral & written communication skills, including strong work ethic. Able to read and interpret complex written information
  • Hands on experience with HP UFT or QTP, BPT,HP QC/ALM.
  • Experience with data retrieval and validation using SQL or Oracle PL/SQL
  • Proficient in MS Office and especially creating of  Excel Macros
  • Working knowledge under, Agile, or Waterfall software development processes
  • Ability to attain results, convey a sense of urgency and drive issues to closure, persists despite obstacles and opposition, sets high standards of performance and pursues challenging goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
  • Customer or end-user focused and has ability to manage expectations
  • Good knowledge of industry best test practice
