CIB-Athena Core Software Release Manager-ED

Job Description

The Athena Core team in JPMorgan is looking for someone to perform a hybrid role comprised of Release Management & Technology Control Liaison.  This person will be responsible for Change Management of all Releases and also partnering with our Technology Controls Officer to perform assessments, prioritize fixes and also respond to audit/compliance queries.
This role calls for a strong understanding of a rapid release lifecycle (binary releases are typically every 2 weeks) as well as the Rapid Application Development lifecycle of the Python changes.  Some of the Change Management responsibilities will encompass fixes to the production environment to reduce Athena’s risk profile.
Athena Core is a next generation risk, pricing and trade management framework.  Clients of Athena Core are multiple LOBs (Lines of Businesses) which build specific code on top of Athena Core to deliver on their business requirements.  
  • Technology Control Liaison
    • Analyze data from various production reports / scorecards that are produced within the Bank and organize appropriate actions.  Some of these actions will involve engaging with the Athena Core Operate/SA team to remediate breaks.  Some breaks will involve raising the relevant paperwork to re-allocate the break against another team.
    • Perform all Bank mandated assessments including providing evidence where required
    • Accurately respond to incoming queries from the Bank’s Technology Controls team, Audit and Compliance as required in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring that Athena Core consistently complies with various mandated initiatives e.g. Secure Software Assurance Program, Production Health Scorecard
  • Release Management
    • Maintain the Release Schedule for Athena Core, concisely announce the schedule and any changes to a community of >1300 developers and >1400 business users.
    • Gather information from the Athena Core team to maintain the documentation for Release Notices for Athena Core – this is the formal announcement that a release has been performed and includes highlights of new features or significant bug-fixes.
    • Change Management: ensure that the CM request is raised and the relevant documentation is attached.  Ensure all CM approvals are in place prior to the release.
    • Ensure that all tests against the Release Candidate code ( are performed and any variance from expected values has the relevant sign-off from the Front or Middle Office.

    • A motivated self-starter, able to work with little guidance
    • Ability to focus on technology risk and also form an opinion as to the level of risk that an issue poses.
