Ab Initio - ETL Developer

Job Description

rev2 Roles & Responsibilities:

 

    • Initial Investigation & Solution identification
    • Analyzes, Designs, develops, codes, tests, debugs and documents
    • Programming to satisfy business requirements for small, medium projects
    • Provides L3 Level support
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members
    • Participate in design reviews and provides alternatives
    • Participate in / Conduct code reviews and make sure that quality solutions are built to prescribed design and standards  and best practices/standards have been followed
    • Troubleshoot systems production/performance issues under tight deadlines
    • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations
    • Responsible for on-time project/L3 Releases delivery with high-quality code
    • System test planning and system test execution
    • Support QA phase by tracking and assigning defects to development team; Work with QA leads to schedule fixes and builds and enable QA to be successful
    • Implementation and Warranty support
    • Identify efficiencies and ways to improve design and development processes
    • Identify ways to increase efficiency of production support - Find solutions that allow operations to better do their job
    • Works with other team members, including DBA's, ETL developers, Technical Architects, QA & Business Analysts, Project managers
    • Excellent knowledge of the Full life cycle of a project
    • Mentor younger member of the team

 

Education and Experience: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    • Master's degree in Finance OR Information Technology is a plus
    • Minimum 5 years of hands on work experience in Ab Initio (Application development)
    • At least 6 years software development experience required in Operational Data Store / Data Warehouse environment
    • Knowledge of release management, version control practices and procedures
    • Strong knowledge of development life cycles
    • Experience with scheduling jobs using a scheduling tool like Control-M
    • Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills
    • Must have full life-cycle experience in ETL projects, preferably in the finance industry

  • Demonstrated ability to translate functional/high level design in detailed technical design
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication / presentation skills
  • Ability to drive & deliver solutions independently
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Demonstrates initiatives and self-starter
  • Prepared to challenge when business requirements seem conflicting
