Roles and Responsibilities
Junior Analysts in Investment Banking will:
• Coordinate efforts with deal team members across Investment Banking
• Prepare presentation materials for use in client meetings, covering topics such as strategic alternatives, capital markets activity and general corporate finance (i.e.: Pitch books, Presentations, etc.)
• Participate in all stages of transaction executions, from the pitch phase to closing
• Consult with and advise management on deal-related issues
• Create company profiles and other group and project specific analyses
• Perform valuation analyses using various methodologies, including discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparables and transaction comparables
• Assist in in the origination and execution of equity and debt transactions
• Assist in building detailed financial models to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios and to analyze the impacts of various capital structures and potential M&A transactions
Junior Analysts undergo training course in New York led by expert professional instructors and inspiring J.P. Morgan professionals, who also conduct training for full-time Analysts. You will learn about J.P. Morgan’s history and its position as a leading global organization with a wide range of products and knowledge depth that enables us to serve our clients. With the help of business-specific training and designated tutors, you will gain technical and practical knowledge that will help you succeed as a Junior Analyst. Once training is complete, you will continue to learn a great deal over the course of the year from your colleagues, teammates and hands-on experiences.
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
We look for candidates with excellent quantitative, analytical and communication skills. You should be adaptable, able to manage projects independently and ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team. You should be able to work well under pressure in a demanding environment, producing accurate, detailed materials while meeting tight deadlines.
A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance or economics is recommended, although successful Analysts come from all different backgrounds. Candidates should be highly proficient in Excel and Word. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate academic strength (minimum GPA of 3.2), strong teamwork, communication skills and a high energy level.
