KYC Specialist - (Know Your Customer) - Houston, TX

Job Description

The Know Your Customer (KYC) Specialist is responsible for the review of consumer banking customers identified as requiring further analysis and execution of actions based upon (KYC) Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards.  The KYC Specialist will document and analyze information as well as make decisions and execute actions in compliance of AML & KYC standards. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, and ability to identify, assess, and act in accordance with KYC policy and direction. KYC Specialists must exhibit the highest standards of customer service to our line of business partners and customers.
 
The essential responsibilities of this position are:
  • In-depth understanding of KYC  and AML policies and procedures
  • Analyze closing case history and determine appropriate course of action
  • Utilize all available tools to verify course of action
  • Determine additional steps required to decision and validate AML risk to the firm
  • Interact with AML Investigators and CCB Compliance support to obtain required information
  • Accurately document  analysis and actions taken in conclusion to KYC standards
  • Identification and escalation of potential issues or procedural gaps that do not meet Firm wide & KYC standards
 
  • Experience with Anti-Money Laundering / Know Your Customer policies & procedures strongly preferred
  • Consumer Banking Risk/Fraud experience preferred
  • Strong research/analysis skills required
  • Ability to research and understand consumer transactions using various customer account platforms
  • Independent decision making ability, and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong system fluency including mainframe and PC based systems, with a strong proficiency in Word and Excel required
  • Self-Motivated, Self-Starter, Team Player
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload in various stages of completion with little supervision 
  • Ability to effectively partner with all levels of management
  • Ability to identify risk and provide process improvement suggestions
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience preferred
