Associate, Healthcare Investment Banking

Job Description

Duties: Participate in the "full cycle" of transactional execution, including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda, client presentations and facilitating due diligence and transaction negotiation process. Work on deal teams to help execute certain aspects of M&A transaction, equity financings (straight equity, equity-linked products), debt financings (investment grade, high yield and leveraged loans). Work across the firm to bring to our clients the full suite of capabilities that J.P. Morgan offers. Help develop long-term client relationships with new clients and enhance existing relationships. Apply working knowledge of the healthcare industry sectors and the Firm's product and service offerings. Develop expertise in the quantitative and analytical practices used to develop strategic, capital structure and valuation recommendations to clients and work alongside senior bankers in providing relationship support and executing transactions. Actively participate in implementing the execution function, including working with product partners across the bank as well as assisting more senior bankers. Play an important role in the development of the firm, the Healthcare Coverage group and their capabilities. Participate in building the business over the long term by developing individual expertise in an appropriate industry and contributing to enhancing the J.P. Morgan franchise. Contribute to the recruiting, training and development of incoming Healthcare group interns. Stay abreast of developments in the financial markets and healthcare industry.  

Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Management, or related field.

 

Minimum experience required: 3 years of investment banking experience in M&A advisory and capital markets activities, or related experience.

 

*Skills required: Must have experience performing the following types of financial modeling and analyses pertaining to both US and cross-border M&A: financial statements analysis and financial modeling; building detailed three-statement operating and transaction models and valuation analyses; discounted cash flows; sum-of-the-parts valuation, precedent transactions; trading comparables; leveraged buyout analyses; value creation; accretion/dilution analyses; shareholder return analyses; investor evolution analyses and IPO sizing model. Must have working knowledge of various government files, including 10-K, 10-Q, definitive proxy statement, 424B (prospectus). Must have demonstrated understanding of advanced accounting concepts under both U.A. GAAP and IFRS standards. Must have experience with global M&A execution across buy-sides and sell-sides; working with management teams and others across the organization to facilitate the process; coordinating due diligence processes, and drafting and completing marketing and board of director materials. Must have experience with capital markets related transactions, including IPOs and debt-raising in conjunction with M&A opportunities. Must have experience producing marketing materials such as general pitch book, confidential information memoranda and teaser, including creating content. Must have demonstrated knowledge of process-related documents, including confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, bid instruction letters, and purchase and sale agreements. Must have experience in bulge-bracket global bank. Must have healthcare banking related experience.
