CCB Data Management - Testing and Support Lead

Job Description

This Testing and Production Support Manager role within CCB Data Management’s Process Delivery team and will be accountable for UAT testing of all application delivery projects within Data Management. This role will lead both a direct a staff of 2 UAT team members as well as be a cross-team leader directing testing activities throughout Data Management which has a staff of ~170.  The UAT function in Data Management is relatively new and as a result the selected leader will have an opportunity to shape and mature Data Management’s approach to UAT across its suite of 4 applications and 7 releases per year.
 
In addition to UAT, the Testing and Production Support Manager role is accountable for coordinating user support activities for the Data Management applications.  In this area, the manager must coordinate across fours areas.  They are a direct staff of one, a help desk staff of 50 (internal partners not direct staff management) who delivers direct end user phone/email support, product partners who provide second level support, and IT partners who address technical issues.  Again, the function is relatively new so the selected leader will have an opportunity to drive the target support model, approach and processes as we mature.
 
The core UAT responsibilities:
  • Manages the UAT effort for a particular project or release and is responsible for providing estimates, project plans, and resource.  Is accountable for all work product of their team.
  • Manages and directs overall team activities and monitors progress and is responsible for coaching, mentoring and providing performance feedback
  • Works in conjunction with Product Owners, Release PMO and IT teams to ensure that applications meet business requirements in a way that provides outstanding experience for our clients.
  • Reviews Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, User Stories and Use Cases to understand the end user requirements
  • Recommends and implements enhancements to improve effectiveness and efficiency of services and systems
  • Works with Product and Business Analyst to determine requirements are captured correctly.
  • Provides leadership to their team by setting priorities and providing a strategic and tactical vision for the team. 
  • Identifies areas for improved testing efficiencies, test automation and facilitates implementation of automated test scripts.
  • Participates in cross-functional discussions to review the impact of application changes on the quality of the application and the client experience.
  • Has significant interaction with internal customers
  • Creates and maintains Test Strategy, Test Plan, and execution schedule or other documents as specified by the PDF and PMO for one or more projects within the Data Management group.
  • Oversee the development of detailed UAT test conditions, scenarios, cases and related data
  • Ensure UAT test scripts are aligned to the requirements
  • Work closely with the IT QA team, UAT testers, and SME (Business) to ensure the complete test strategy is executed
  • Works with QA team, Product, and Business Analyst to analyze and resolve defects.
  • Works with BRD, PMO, Product and other internal customers on defect resolution / client impact
  • Create and report a detail status on the progress of the project at agreed upon intervals.  *can vary by project
  • May present business updates to managers
  • Plans UAT resources to support implementation weekend testing.
  • Attend design reviews, requirements sessions, and core team meetings.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with business process team leads to discuss business process related impacts
  • Partner with business, operations, and training teams to ensure end-to-end application is tested.
  • Organize and facilitate test case reviews with business stakeholders.
Experience:
  • Requires 7 or more years of user acceptance or quality assurance testing experience or equivalent project experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, managing, mentoring and coaching team resources.
  • Proven experience leading within a cross line of business technology organization, empowering people, building rapport, garnering respect and appropriately exercising authority in a collaborative cross-cultural environment
  • Experience working with commercial credit card and e-payment solutions preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of testing methodology and use of test tracking tools (i.e. HP ALM11) preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of the TSS Project Delivery Framework a plus
  • Bachelors degree in finance or business, or equivalent work related experience preferred
  • Extensive Line of Business process and procedure knowledge required
Tools:
  • HP ALM 11 or other similar tools - Basic understanding including navigation between functional areas within the tool.  Ability to input or load and execute test cases and document actual results within the tool
  • Can write and execute basic SQL statements
  • Intermediate MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, Project).
Soft Skills:
  • Strong written communication/documentation skills.  Ability to present status and strategy to managers.
  • Analytical skills, problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and create timelines and establish deadlines
