Position Summary
The qualified candidate will provide leadership and direction to a team of underwriting professionals. You will monitor workflow and ensure compliance within the team to Chase policy and procedure. As a Manager you will ensure employee reviews out of policy credit guidelines and be responsible for team performance as it pertains to key performance indicators including quality, productivity, turn time and other key factors within the business. You will manage productivity and efficiency of the team via reporting, system reviews, and management of work queues based on capacity and volumes. You and your staff will be required to interact with other internal and external parties as needed to achieve the highest quality and level of customer satisfaction.
 
Business Description
The Manager will lead and manage staff that review and analyze customer financial documentation.   The Manager will have overall responsible for supporting the team’s compliance of Chase’s risks tolerance for out of policy lending, risk assessment, and providing guidance to the team in recommending options for structuring transactions for meeting the risk tolerance of Chase.  The Manager and staff members may interact with other internal and external parties such as Customers, Customer Assistant Specialists, Operations and Sales Partners, Quality Assurance, Branch Personel as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, training, terminations, promotions, transfers, disciplinary and salary actions
  • Supervise a team of employees by monitoring workflow and ensuring compliance with Chase policy and procedure
  • Maximize productivity and efficiency of the team by monitoring and managing work queues, assigning and adjusting workflow as volume dictates
  • Manage team performance related to service delivery, quality expectations and productivity benchmarks
  • Manage performance of team through proactive coaching, training and supporting employee developmentActs as primary interface with internal and external clients such as high level brokers, Account Executives and Regional Sales Managers.
  • Accept inquiry calls from sales/brokers regarding potential application scenarios
  • Serves as customer advocate to determine the best way to meet the needs of the customer, broker and sales
  • Three -five years of Underwriting or equivalent experience in the Mortgage Industry
  • Prior management/supervisory experience  
  • College degree preferred
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate well in difficult situations
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Comprehensive appraisal knowledge required
  • Strong customer service background
