CIB - Operations - Custody Transitions Analyst - Associate - Sydney

Department Summary:

 

The Custody Transitions Team is part of CIB Operations - Investor Services and is responsible for supporting Asia Pacific accounting and custody clients on all transition related activity.

 

The Custody Transition Team specializes in the execution and management of client transitions:

  • On-boarding of new clients,
  • Incremental transitions and restructures of existing client portfolios
  • Client exits

 

The Custody Transition Team is responsible for the end-to-end process from a custody perspective for the lifecycle of the transition. Preparation and pre-analysis, pipeline management and the processing and execution through to settlement and residual management of transition deals.

 

Key Accountabilities / Major Responsibilities:

  • Transition analysis and execution of global cash and exchange traded securities
  • Preliminary analysis of Client Asset lists including asset, corporate action and income analysis.
  • Intraday support to 3rd party Transition Managers for all aspects relating to the custody service model
  • Preparation & management of static data records on core custody systems for assets and counterparties
  • Ownership and exchange of Standard Settlement instructions for various transitions with 3rd parties
  • Maintaining relationships with Clients and third-party Transition Managers during a the transition phase
  • Processing of client instructions onto core Custody platform and monitoring of outbound agent swifts.
  • Reconciliations between client data and assets input into JPM systems
  • Residual management of onboardings and exits
  • Producing status reports for Internal/external stakeholders
  • Responding to client inquires and requirements in a timely and efficient manner
  • Strict adherence to internal checklists and procedures related to Transition production work

General Knowledge and Experience Required: 

  • Minimum three years experience within financial services
  • Advance understanding of global settlement of securities and cash, including emerging and documentation markets
  • Understanding of custody processes and workflows
  • Trade lifecycle including sub custodians, cash correspondents and market depositories (DTC, Crest, etc).
  • MT54x swift messaging
  • Strong settlements experience would be beneficial
  • Prior transition knowledge a strong advantage
  • Client facing skills and basic project management
  • Proven client management skills (internal and external)
  • Solid understanding of the Custody & Securities Industry
  • Strong knowledge of Excel is necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
  • Ability to assess risk associated with enquiries and demonstrates strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritise intra-day based on market deadlines, risk to the client and J.P. Morgan and volume
  • Strong team player
