MB Underwriting Mgr I - Jacksonville, FL

Job Description

The qualified candidate will provide leadership and direction to a number of teams of Underwriting and Quality Control professionals responsible for providing quality loan decisions on a variety of mortgage loan products.  You will monitor workflow and ensure compliance within the teams to Chase procedures.  As a MB UW Manager I, you will be responsible for building an effective team of supervisors and staff, who successfully deliver a high level of performance as it pertains to quality, productivity, and expected turn time. You will manage productivity and efficiency of the teams via reporting, system reviews, and management of work queues based on capacity and volumes. You and your staff will be required to interact with other internal and external partners as needed to achieve the highest quality and level of customer satisfaction. The MB UW Manager I is responsible for managing staffing levels and recommendations with regards to employee credentials and lending authority. 
 
Credit and Risk Oversight:
 
As a MB UW Manager I, you will ensure employee adherence to Chase credit policy and overlay guidelines and all applicable government regulations.  You will instruct and lead your staff on how to interpret and apply credit guidelines and procedures when rendering loan decisions.  Manager ensures administrative and operational compliance with regulatory requirements and upholds Fair Lending Practices as well as JPMorgan Chase credit policies and underwriting procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (in order of importance):
           

 
  • Recommend staffing levels and personal actions such as hiring, training, corrective action, promotions, and salary actions
  • Responsible for managing multiple teams of employees by monitoring workflow related to file reviews and ensure compliance with Chase policy and procedure
  • Responsible for leading, coaching and developing Supervisors and Employees
  • Responsible for team performance as it pertains to key functional aspects, which include daily benchmarks/scorecards, quality, and productivity
  • Values and acts upon employee feedback
  • Organizes resources to accomplish tasks with maximum efficiency
  • Lead strategic initiatives in support of business enhancements
  • Anticipates problems; sees how a problem and its solution will affect other teams; gathers information before making decisions; weighs alternatives to arrive at reasonable decision
 
  • Five years of Underwriting, Quality Control, or equivalent experience in the Mortgage Industry
  • Three years of Management experience required
  • College degree preferred
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to articulate decisions and discuss options with confidence
