Job Description

The Sub & Master Servicing Dept. is responsible for the supervision of primary servicers and the administration of mortgage-backed securities and portfolio owned loans, including mortgage loan default management, servicer accounting and reconciliation, trust and investor cash management, contract administration, management reporting and portfolio analytics, distribution calculations and investor reporting. The system of record for this team is the SBO 2000 master servicing system.

Principle responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring daily cash activity is processed and sent to the appropriate account whether internal or external within the required timeframe, while adhering to all Corporate and Departmental Cash controls and policies
  • Understanding and maintaining all GL ledger mapping within SBO, by working closely with Accounting, Investor reporting and processing.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with clearing partners, primarily investor reporting so all items are properly identified and noted with clearing information.
  • Acts as leader/facilitator of weekly/monthly bank account item meetings with clearing partners.
  • Performing research as requested by internal and external business partners
  • Performing monthly review of each custodial reconciliation and ensuring each recon complies with Reg AB standards, established SLA's, and Quality Control standards.
  • Testing and maintaining departmental procedures.
  • Completing monthly management reporting as required, including but not limited to capacity planning, Financials, Compint and IONIC.
  • Verifying that the ARM index updates are correct and working with direct reports and servicers to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assisting with modification research; ensuring that all modification processes are finished in a timely manner, and working to update modification processes to reduce the number of errors and identify issues up front.
  • Analyzing IR and P&I issues for trends and work with direct reports to isolate common issues and correct en mass before the variances cause issues for Investor Reporting or Process Accounting.
  • Supporting special loans team with SBO balance reconciliations to servicer balances (PRA, forborne, and interest bearing balances).
  • Researching COMPINT issues identifying the cause of the items, prevention of future items and correction of current items.
  • Identifying and establishing efficiencies for multiple processes completed by the Master Servicing and Sub Servicing groups.
  • Work with Servicer Oversight and the servicer to correct outstanding issues
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or 4 years equivalent business experience preferred
  • 2 years management or supervisory experience
  • 5+ years experience in mortgage banking or master servicing environment strongly preferred
  • Proficient with business PC applications, including MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access preferred.
  • Knowledge of mortgage servicing systems preferred
  • SBO 2000 experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
