The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Legal team comprises approximately 550 employees who provide legal support for all of the CIB businesses around the globe. CIB Legal employees are currently located in 23 countries. The primary function of the CIB Legal practice group is to provide transactional and strategic legal support for the various CIB businesses.
JPMorgan Chase is seeking an attorney with experience in financial services regulations to join the Corporate & Investment Bank Legal team in Latam. The position will be based in a location in the region to be selected, primarily Brazil, Mexico or Argentina. The main focus of this role will be on regulatory matters impacting the CIB businesses that are run out of the local offices in Latam. The role requires interpreting laws and regulations, monitoring changes in such laws and regulations, and evaluating and assessing impacts of such developments on the CIB businesses. This position requires significant cross-functional collaboration, including with line of business lawyers, compliance, controls, risk, operations, and senior business leaders. The environment is fast-paced, often requiring that issues be addressed quickly to ensure the Firm remains in compliance with evolving laws and regulations. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and collaborative skills, be able to work independently and be a true ‘self-starter’.
Primary Responsibilities will include the following:
Become subject matter expert on certain laws and regulations; interpret laws and regulations for the Latam region.
Participate in development of library of laws/regulations applicable to CIB.
Identify and document legal obligations and collaborate with other subject matter experts to map legal obligations through policies, procedures, controls and training.
Monitor changes in law/regulations and research and analyze laws/regulations and statutes to evaluate and assess impacts on CIB.
Collaborate with the Business and Compliance and Controls teams to identify and implement policy, process and procedural changes to ensure compliance with changing laws/regulations.
Summarize and report on new legal requirements and changes to existing laws/regulations.
Participate in project teams relating to regulatory requests and requirements, regulatory exams and/or audits.
- Candidate must be a licensed attorney in good standing with at least 4 years of relevant experience working with legislation or regulation of financial services or other highly regulated industries.
