The Corporate Technology and Risk Testing&Release Services QA Team evaluates and tests new or modified software applications and software development procedures used to verify that applications function according to technical and functional requirements. We operate as business partners, solving problems together with technology and business teams, driving better cost to service by performing all testing related activities for Investment, Regulatory, and BAU initiatives. Our Quality Assurance (QA) team has an opening for a well qualified Lead.
As a Quality Assurance Lead, you will deliver timely solutions using the best design and implementation tools, including Business Process Management, in order to continuously improve business processes that meet client specifications with minimum defects, on-time, and on-budget. Define and improve IT Technology processes towards recognized industry standards. Bridge the gap between current and desired quality levels by balancing short-term needs with long-term perspectives of success.
The qualified lead will develop and maintain quality assurance standards and processes and manage quality improvement activities. Create common business specific quality measurement frameworks and track improvement against these metrics. Develop overall application testing strategy. Prioritize testing needs and develop cost estimates, when applicable. Ensure that quality assurance-related activities at both the program and project level are appropriately planned and executed. Work with Application/Technical Architect and Business/Technical Analysts to ensure that the acceptable range for test results and performance is communicated to the appropriate testing teams. Ensure that technology problems are properly documented, and confirm that software defects are addressed. Partner with development teams to ensure effective use of methodologies. Establish and maintain working relationships across all businesses, across IT, and between technology team members.
As a Quality Assurance Lead you will be responsible for the following:
Demonstrating knowledge of multiple complex applications and provide subject matter expertise to set direction and create test strategies and test plans for more than one project and/or application.
Ensuring completion of all testing activities across one or more assigned projects, utilizing processes, methods, metrics and software that ensure quality, reliability, system safety and security for the applications tested.
Participating in cross-functional discussions to review the impact of application changes from both internal and external interfaces.
Communicating effectively with IT Development, Project Management, Business Units, and other support staff on testing timelines, deliverables, status and other information.
Assigned as QA project test lead for more than one project (possibly concurrently) and communicating project testing status to project team, QA manager, and Technology Director.
Accountable for the development of test documentation to include: test requirements, test project plans, test schedules, test plans, detailed test cases, and metric reporting, as defined by the Project Life Cycle (Agile or Waterfall).
Leads and participates in review sessions of business requirements, technical requirements, functional specifications and design documents to ensure that software changes are understood to facilitate testing planning and execution activities.
Accountable for coordinating, communicating, and disseminating testing timelines, deliverables, and all other relevant information to QA Test Manager and project teams.
Responsible for broad scope of decision-making. Day to day decisions are generally made without supervision or review.
Accountable for adherence to established test standards and procedures.
Assesses risk to project based on results of execution and validation. Makes appropriate recommendations based on risks identified.
Additional areas of responsibilities includes:
Voice of QA in Go/No Go project decisions.
Sponsors initiatives designed to support continual QA process improvements, and the integration of QA process with other development activities.
Identifies and implements areas for improving efficiency, shortening of test cycles, and automation of test scripts across application support portfolio.
Daily interaction with a global team, ensures completion of assigned test deliverables and tasks
Accountable for and manages KT (Knowledge Transition) and application training of new resources
Initiates and completes test escape and root cause analysis, testing lessons learned, recommends future process improvements, and defect prevention.
Creates and reviews with manager test estimates for accuracy.
Provides leadership in a matrix environment - which may or may not include direct reports.
A college degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of five plus years of experience with the following:
System software testing
Planning and coordinating test activities
Overseeing test case development and defect resolution
HP's Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
Proven experience in all aspects of functional, integration and regression testing
Knowledge of Application Development Lifecycle and concepts
Development or test automation tools/frameworks ( Unified Functional Testing Tool (UFT), Business Process Tool (BPT), SOAP –UI, or equivalent testing software )
Ability to work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and excellent analytical skills
Independent decision-making and good judgment
Strong time management, interpersonal and people skills
Ability to attain results, convey a sense of urgency and drive issues to closure, persists despite obstacles and opposition, sets high standards of performance and pursues challenging goals
Strong facilitation skills
Utilizes active communication
Ability to operate comfortably in a multi-task/multi priority environment
Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office products , especially creating of Excel Macros and PowerPoint presentations.
Working knowledge of the following technical specific skills:
Database Systems - Oracle, DB2, SQL
Can create and execute complex SQL commands, using TOAD for Oracle and SQL script
Basic infrastructure and architecture methodologies
Complex Business Rules engine (ETL)
Web technologies - (e.g. HTTP, XML, HTML, etc.)
Platforms/OS/Servers (e.g. Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
