JPMAM Private Equity program is one of the largest programs in the industry with over $18 billion in private equity assets as of 12/31/08. Private Equity group (PEG) manages the majority of these assets within their fund of funds program on

behalf of more than 90 leading global institutions. Additionally, they oversee private equity assets comprising over 280 partnerships, direct and secondary investments on behalf of several institutional investors. PEG has access to a broad

range of investment opportunities not commonly available to the general marketplace. They have dedicated team of 45professionals, located in New York, London and Hong Kong, consisting of high quality, skilled professionals with more

than 150 years of combined experience.

Job Description:

We are actively seeking a Java/SQL Application Developer to design, develop, debug, and test application components and enhancements that support the Private Equity Business. Development projects will include new solutions/applications for the business as well as enhancements to existing

applications. We employ both Waterfall and Agile methodologies with a distributed development team in NY and India. There are some production support responsibilities as we are an integrated Development and Support team.

This person must have the ability to work on multiple projects and other assignments with minimal direct supervision.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize Agile and Waterfall methodologies and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques whilecontributing to the technical code documentation.
  • Provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs developing applications within mature technology environments.
  • Analyze potential risks and benefits in using specified solutions to address business requirements.
  • Design, develop, code, test, debug and document.
  • Review design and functional specification prepared by other team members.
  • Collaborate with team and come up with solutions for any identified problem by team
  • Deployment of newly build modules in QA and Production environment.
  • Manage code quality for total build effort.
  • Coordinate with end users during User Acceptance Testing.
  • Support application in production.
  • Analyzing and documenting problems, recommending solutions, and initiating corrective action.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
The following attributes and experience are essential:
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  •  Minimum 3-5 years of financial application development/consulting experience.
  • Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills.
  • Hands on experience in Java and SQL.
  • Must have working knowledge of commonly used design patterns.
  • Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of installed applications and successful IT project delivery.
  • Project management coursework valued; leadership experiences a plus.
  • The following technical skills are required:
  •  SQL Sybase or Microsoft SQL Server Preferred. Experience writing and debugging stored procedures and scripts
  • Java, Tomcat, J2EE, JavaScript, JSP
  • Familiarity with open source web technologies like Apache, Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate etc.
  • Familiarity with Source Code management techniques/tools for software management. Knowledge of release management.
  • UNIX shell and shell scripting
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM a plus
