The Custody & Funds Services (C&FS) business in Australia continues to invest heavily in its platform and is organized in functional groupings aligned to J.P. Morgan’s global Product Development setup. The Product Development management team in Australia is structured so that each Senior Project Manager has responsibility for multiple related functional groupings, such as Accounting, Tax and Financial Reporting.

Reporting into the Head of Product Development for APAC, the Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for a functional grouping and be responsible for managing the three to five year roadmap for those functions, as well as the execution of each project within the functional roadmap. Supporting the Senior Project Manager will be individual Project Managers and Business Analysts who deal primarily with project execution. These individuals will also have a direct reporting line responsibility to the senior project manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring full integration and partnership with your global C&FS functional leads
  • Ownership of the creation and maintenance of the three to five year roadmap for each of the functions within the functional grouping
  • Accountability for schedule, budget, and quality of all program elements across relevant functions
  • Owning and driving execution of projects where a designated project manager is not in place
  • Acting as the point of escalation and communications conduit to executive sponsors / program steering committee for your functions and conduct periodic briefings/status updates
  • Assisting direct report Project Managers to organise projects from commencement to completion where you are not the direct Project Manager
  • Escalating decisions to executive sponsors or Product Development head as necessary.
  • Managing a project pod or virtual team consisting of Product Development Project Managers and Business Analysts, as well as Operations and Technology representatives
  • Aligning the various teams/team member expectations and deliverables to the needs of the relevant project
  • Maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of onshore and offshore stakeholders
  • Ensure effective and regular communication with all relevant stakeholders through various forums, including Project Board, Project Steering Committees and showcases, and clear status reporting
  • Ensuring coordination across the various teams, including Operations, Technology, Sales & Relationship Management, Product and Client Service
Knowledge and Experience Required:
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, with additional Project Management certification an advantage
  • Proven track record in project related roles within the financial services industry (preferably with Agile/Scrum methodology)
  • Demonstrated understanding of superannuation & investment management middle-office and back-office activities, with a strong view of client needs in the Australia & New Zealand market a key advantage
  • Effective team player with proven leadership capability across large and complex programs of work
  • Ability to manoeuvre within a matrix organisation to achieve project objectives and cope with multiple priorities in an ever changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build networks across all levels/areas of the business
  • Well developed problem solving capability and ability to drive issues through to resolution
  • Proactive in identifying and implementing change improvements – champion of change
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite and other key project management tools
