The EMEA Corporate & Investment Bank Compliance Department supports JPMorgan Chase’s operations in the region and is responsible for:
interpreting financial rules and regulations;
advising management in the development of policies and procedures;
providing training to employees;
reviewing and monitoring of business activities;
liaising with regulators.
The Disclosure of Interests (DOI) team ensures that JP Morgan Chase & Co (the group) including the corporate & investment bank, investment management, wealth management, hedge fund and private equity businesses, complies with DOI obligations throughout the EMEA region. The team works closely with Compliance Operations, the Control Room, Markets Compliance and Asset Management Compliance.
The role of a DOI team member includes: (i) monitoring daily positions/trades and submitting necessary disclosures to issuers and/or regulators in accordance with major shareholding, sensitive industries, short selling and takeover reporting requirements; (ii) responding promptly to enquiries from regulators, issuers and the lines of business; (iii) building a network of contacts across the lines of business and Compliance; (iv) involvement in the implementation of system and procedural changes in response to new regulations; and (v) contributing to the specification and testing of changes to the monitoring system. Team members are supervised by their DOI team leader.
An important part of the team’s responsibilities includes keeping informed of the latest regulatory developments. Current items being discussed include the inclusion of cash settled derivatives in major shareholding disclosures across the EU. In addition, the team provides substantial input with respect to upgrading the DOI monitoring and reporting system, data quality and related LOB systems. A significant programme of IT development designed to enhance the monitoring tool, is scheduled for 2016 and beyond.
Requirements for Associate
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
Successful track record working in compliance for a financial institution and familiarity with DOI functions and systems will be an advantage.
Understanding of the main disclosure principles underpinning the Transparency Directive will be an advantage.
Knowledge of the Takeover Panel reporting requirements will be an advantage.
Basic knowledge of a broad range of financial instruments, including derivatives.
Good oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Highly competent in Microsoft Excel and Word with experience in using database systems.
In addition, the candidate must possess: (i) initiative; (ii) good organisational skills; (iii) the ability to work in a team; (iv) the ability to prioritise conflicting demands and work within tight deadlines; (v) attention to detail; and (vi) the skills to build partnerships with other teams.
